Sci230 - To be a leader, one must be able to indentify his or hers weaknesses and strengths in leadership attributes. As the office manager of Florida Gastroenterology Clinic, there are many responsibilities and roles that are being played. In this paper we will discuss the meaning of leadership, leadership theories, personal strength and weaknesses, and leadership styles.
Leadership
Sci 230 - An effective leader and management team is key for an organization to be successful. Leadership is defined as the ability to influence a group towards the achievement of a vision or set of goals (Robbins & Judge, 2007). There are two major components that contribute to organizational success. They are the following: hiring practices and work place satisfaction.
ldr535 - Both of these components are largely influenced by leadership style adopted by management (Thompson, 2009). Leadership is also the process of influencing others to understand and agree about what needs to be done, how to do it, and also the process of facilitating individuals and collecting efforts to accomplish shared objectives (Yukl, 2006). The definition of leadership can be interpreted in many different ways, depending on your cultural and ethical perspective. Because of the many definitions of leadership, many theories on leadership traits have evolved.
Leadership Theories
ldr 535 - There are several theories of leadership that facilitate in defining the traits of a leader. Trait theories emphasize leaders’ attributes such as personalities, motives, values, and skills (Yukl, 2006). Trait theories of leadership differentiate leaders from non-leaders by focusing on personal qualities and characteristics (Robbins & Judge, 2007). On the other hand, behavioral theories believe that the capabilities of leadership can be learned. There are many contingency theories.
